[CASE STUDY] Wesley Mission, Sinnamon Park Village

Apr 13 2018

Wesley Mission Queensland is an aged care organisation that has been caring for the aged community for more than 100 years. Their mission is to walk alongside people in need, offering care and compassion and promoting choice, independence and community wellbeing. They have recently decided to further grow and add a new structure to the one of their residential aged care facilities Sinnamon Park Village. This is where we come in…

As a completely new structure was being built, they required AV consultants to achieve Foxtel, FTA and Modulation services to be installed and balanced to the Australian and Foxtel standards to 149 outlets.

Firstly, they required the fibre link from the existing building within the complex across to the new building. They then required modulated services, consisting of 2 cameras with audio, a DVD player and a digital signage display system to be installed. The cameras are on level 3 in the church, this means they can tune into what is going on with the minister if they can’t get there. Additionally, the bright sign media player is for displaying messages about upcoming events.

Focus Electrical who employed our services had already run the cabling to streamline the job. We then provided and installed all active and passive equipment ensuring that the system was balanced and commissioned to Australian standards and Foxtel MDU standards. This will provide every tenant capabilities for FTA and Foxtel in each unit to one TV point, also the capability to watch a live stream of the church.

The challenge that we came across were the cable distances from TVDP in the rises on each level to customers rooms being a mixture of longer and shorter cable runs. This made it critical that we had all our calculations 100% correct to ensure that we used the right equipment so that the received signal at each outlet is balanced and the system remains stable.

It was important from maintenance point of view that the system was kept simple and easy to understand… and with a total of 48 cables coming back to each riser we had to plan the layout of the active and passive equipment carefully to ensure a neat and tidy installation.

On completion of the project, documentation was submitted to Foxtel for approval which in itself is testimony to the quality of work our technicians executed.

Our company recently engaged The Big Picture to assist in the supply and installation of Audio Visual solutions for a large scale project. From start to finish we found The Big Picture easy to deal with and professional. The Big Picture communicated well and took the time to uncomplicate and explain technical aspects making everything easy to understand.  The quality of work provided was outstanding and The Big Picture were helpful and accommodating every step of the way.

A Big Thankyou to you and the team at The Big Picture.
